Guilty or Innocent | Are journalists part of the political story rather than its narrators?
To whom are they accountable?
Free entrance - Registration
On Wednesday, September 19th 2018, 12:00 pm, Oikomedia and The Caravan's Journal, invite you to Impact Hub Athens (Karaiskaki 28, 10554 Athens) for an event to answer: Are journalists part of the political story rather than its narrators?
The central idea evolves around what we consider "public interest" and with this Mock Trial, show that we promote the idea of a stronger engagement of the media with the public to whom journalists "should" be accountable. In the current political climate, with lots of media distrust in many western democracies, journalists are seen as part of the political story rather than simply its narrators.
The discussion will be held in English
Registration: 11.30 a.m.
Light lunch will follow the discussion.

SciFY is included in the inspiring practices in the EU Commission's Entrepreneurship Competence Framework guide to the Entrepreneurship Competence Framework.
Why is this important? Because, as the guide says in the introduction, that is how we are changing the world around us: "The entrepreneurship competence is increasingly recognised as a competence for life, relevant to personal development and fulfilment, finding and progressing in employment, as well as initiating new ventures ranging from community campaigns, social enterprises to new start-up businesses."

One of the results of the EU project Q4ADHD that we are working on is to offer clear guidelines for teachers and schools. Take the self-assessment test and read how your school can be improved step by step. Plus, it's fpr free, check it out here: http://tools4adhd.eu/guidelines/
The project is funded by the ERASMUS+ PROGRAMME - KA2 - Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices - Strategic Partnerships for vocational education and training, AGREEMENT NUMBER – 2016-1-BG01-KA202-023714

SciFY created a new software component for text and data mining, VineSum, addressed to developers who want to build applications in the area of agriculture & biodiversity. This innovative tool is part of the OpenMinTed infrastructure and it is ideal for researchers, consumer behaviour analysts, wine distributors, etc.
OpenMinTed is an Open Mining Infrastructure for Text & Data that in the beginning of 2018 was searching for innovative applications and systems such as: new text mining, text analytics, or information extraction components and ready-to-use applications.
In this context SciFY joined the call and created VineSum. But what is VineSum?
VineSum is an open source executable software component that, given a collection of documents, it:
VineSum’s main objective is to serve as a software component that is being offered to end-users in order to build applications in the area of agriculture & biodiversity. But how VineSum can be used?
Via the OpenMinTed platform, a user that doesn’t have programming experience or specialized knowledge on natural language processing and data mining algorithms, can:
So there you are: a free and innovative software tool for analyzing texts and data on your fingertips.
In the next few weeks we will share a tutorial for using VineSum. In the meantime check the VineSum’s source code here and stay tuned for more.
